Omah Lay Wades Through The Murky Waters Of Heartbreak On ‘Understand’

Notably, after the release of his debut EP, Get Layd, followed by a feature run that gave credence to his star power, Omah Lay has taken a back seat, perhaps to reflect or to recharge, but just in time to be a part of the herd culture musicians follow at this time of the year, he returns lonely and sad, but in his element on Understand.

There is nothing like an Omah Lay song without his usual south-side inspired quips, most of which have gone on to serve as pedestals for him. On Understand, he begins his dreary but immersive tale of heartbreak with the comical but somewhat gritty line, “You don cut my weave-on and dread ah!“, one that immediately throws us into the heady funk he’s in.

Omah Lay does know how to engage and for this reason the Tempoe produced single, is a concerted effort to accompany and not to bore.
