The Structure Problem Behind Peter Obi’s Presidential Bid

Obi's answer, so far, has been serial departure, five parties without pausing long enough at any one of them to leave it stronger than he found it. Charisma got him 6.1 million votes and a historic win in Lagos and the FCT, but it has not  shown any sign of getting him anywhere near the seat of power, the coalition arithmetic that turned Buhari's fourth attempt into Nigeria's first opposition victory at the polls is still missing. Until Obi can point to something structural rather than personal, the answer to whether charisma alone can  make him Nigerian president will always be no.
