Tiwa Savage is undoubtedly the biggest female artist in the country. In that sense, to whom much is given, much is expected. Ms. Savage recently took her talents to the world stage by exiting Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records for Universal Music. That move spoke to her desire to play in the big leagues following in the path of the likes of Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy in taking Afro Pop to the world stage.

This is embodied particularly with her Universal release, 49:99. Complemented by the sharp directorial work of regular collaborator, Meji Alabi the video witnesses Ms. Savage employ typically Nigerian aesthetics like a tailor’s workshop, the Chairman’s roundtable and some street fighting scenes and garnishing it with displays of her sexual appeal forming into an alluring video that proves she’s taking no prisoners. Her sartorial choices also speak to an artist playing in the big leagues.
