Afrobeat artist, Toyé has established himself as one of Atlanta’s go-to rising African acts with releases and contributions to releases like Attitude, Shayo and Take Time. With Ansa Me, his latest single, he continues to create the kind of mellifluous and mellow afropop that has shot him into relevance in ATL.
Navigating between Yoruba and Pidgin as he appeals to one (or a multitude of) lover(s) on the Teekaywitty produced track, Toyé clearly vocalizes how he feels, singing “if no be you, tell me who e go be” before seeking transparency on whether she’s in the same headspace.
Toyé’s discography may not be extensive, but you should be listening to Ansa Me and many of his other releases.
