Insecure star, Yvonne Orji has made it her trademark to represent the Nigerian diaspora through her work. This has been reflected in her Jollof and Jesus podcast hosted in conjunction with Luvvie Ajayi. As she readies for her HBO special, Momma I Made It, she has embarked on media rounds to promote it. For Vanity Fair, we have over 10 minutes of footage of her explaining a range of Nigerian slangs detailing the context in which they’re used.
While the video does highlight her humorous side, it can be criticized for corrupt pronunciations and also feeding into the caricature of Africans in the Western media.
