7 Female Nigerian Artists Set To Make A Joint Statement With SPLIT Exhibition

Posted on

For International Women’s Month, the Noire Experience has put together SPLIT, an Art Exhibition in collaboration with A Whitespace Creative Agency. It’s curated by Sosa Omorogbe, the co-founder of SABO Art, an art advisory and curatorial firm specializing in modern and contemporary art of Africa and its diaspora.

Holding from March 6 — March 13, 2022, the group exhibition will showcase works of seven female Nigerian contemporary artists featuring Zida Kalu, Fiyin Koko, Blossom Oyeyipo, Ama Ejiogu, Roanna Tella, Wami Aluko and Chigozie Obi. Each artist will display artworks showing their distinctive representation of the esse behind this year’s international women’s day campaign; #breakthebias

SPLIT will have various styles of artworks ranging from digital art, painting, mixed media, and photography all geared towards promoting the collective ownership of women’s advocacy for diversity, fairness, and inclusivity in Nigerian society, while also celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

In coming together, the artists hope to make a strong impression on not only the art community, feminist struggle enthusiasts, but also on the everyday person, in recognising the value of stamping out unfair judgements and stereotypes against women.

The exhibition opens at Untitled, 59 Raymond Njoku, Ikoyi on the 6th of March;

Early access 1 pm-3 pm

Exhibition opening – 5 pm

There will also be an Exhibition talk on International Women’s Day; Tuesday 8th, March at 5 pm at the exhibition space.
