ArtXLagos, the International Art Fair will take place in 2021 as a mix of both physical and virtual exhibitions. The physical fair will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island from the 4th to the 7th of November and the showcase made available online at
artxlagos.com from the 4th to the 21st of November.
In 2020, ART X Lagos was disrupted by the #EndSARS protests against the notorious Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), a Nigerian Police Force unit. ART X Lagos marked its respects for the protests with an online exhibition last December featuring works by over 100 artists, filmmakers, protesters, and photographers.
ArtXLagos 2021 comes packed with diverse programs including ArtXTalks and ArtXLive! to explore art through discussions, experimentation, music, and visual art fusion, and more. The Access Bank Art X Prize is also back and applications for the prize will open shortly. Documentary photographer Etinosa Yvonne won the prize in 2019 and will commence a three-month residency at Gasworks in London this summer, to create work for a special solo exhibition at the ArtXLagos fair in November.
