Based in Toronto, Canada, Joey Jaey is a Nigerian artiste whose music style is an artful synergy of Afrobeats, R&B and Amapiano, that produces a euphony of sounds. Inspired by industry bigwigs such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, 2Baba as well as international acts like Damian Marley and  Tracy Chapman, Joey Jaey has gradually earned recognition for his unique musical style. As the year approaches its second half, Joey Jaey gets everyone ready for his forthcoming album with his latest single Kolombo.

The song, which is off his project expected this July, is Joey Jaey’s way of teasing his fans and other lovers of Afrobeats, keeping them in suspense as they count down to his first body of works. Oiled with effervescent instrumentation, the artiste’s smooth vocals settle comfortably on the beats as he relates the story of a love-driven persona in Kolombo. The rhythm of the song inspires danceable, rocking moves, as Joey Jaey makes a bold statement about being another fantasy-driven Afrobeats lover boy.
Nurtured in a home receptive to musical inclinations, Joey Jaey was an active member of the choir where he picked interest in music. While in high school, he was a singing prefect, and this led him to further explore  songwriting  as he even crafted songs for family members and interested friends. After bagging a degree in law, Joey Jaey put his artistic dreams on hold to practice law as a profession. It was during the pandemic in 2020 that he decided to recommit to his music career.

After trying out different genres, Joey Jaey eventually settled for Afrobeats which he spices with a soulful feel for unique output. His personal experiences serve as an impetus for the themes he explores in his songs, particularly social issues such as  women empowerment, love and heartbreak, and social reforms.

After the release of his debut single Friends, featuring Ajuju and Meyar, Joey Jaey has performed on  international platforms, including making a grand appearance at the Canadian Music Week Festival in 2021 and 2022. At this rate of artistic progress, he is positioned to be one of  the next Afrobeats artistes to watch out for as he grows his fan base. Known already for his enrapturing live performances, dynamism and social consciousness, Joey Jaey’s refined talent cannot be contested.
