“You know the price for stealing around here, especially from me. I want to put a bullet through your head, but I hear a voice calling out to me saying, ‘Son, be merciful,’” are the chilling words that grace the teaser for Paper Boat, Toka McBaror’s upcoming action-crime TV series. McBaror is known for the action-comedy Merry Men, but he has helmed two serious action films – The Island and Kada River. So be ready for some serious adrenaline rush!
Details are sketchy, but we know the series will show exclusively on Startimes and it is being advertised as Nigeria’s biggest action-crime TV series, so we are expecting an epic affair.
Lately, there has been an increasing number of action crime series in Nollywood. Africa Magic has Brethren, Kemi Adetiba is working on a King of Boys prequel centered on Young Eniola Salami, and a few weeks ago, Ifeoma Chukwuogo teased Underbelly, a crime-drama mini-series that explores themes of good vs bad, survival and justification for evil. Paper Boat joins this welcome trend and we can’t wait to see it!
