Recently, the Access Bank and ArtX commissioned the Art X Prize- a prestigious opportunity given to visual artists around the country to showcase their mastery and skill in arts. Entries were made, shortlists were reviewed and five finalists were chosen to go head to head for a whopping 1.5 million Naira and other perks.
After a rigorous screening process, ArtX announced Etinosa Yvonne as the winner of the 2019 Access Bank ART X Prize.
The visual artist and photographer was selected by a jury, from five shortlisted finalists that also included: Ayomitunde Adeleke, Christopher Nelson Obuh, Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu and Peter Ebahi Okotor. She will receive a N 1,500,000 grant; a three month residency at Gasworks London, in 2020, and a solo booth presentation at ART X Lagos in 2020.
The Official Launch for the fourth edition of ART X Lagos was held at MILIKI in Victoria Island. It also featured the announcing of the winner of the 2019 Access Bank ART X Prize. The event included the unveiling of many exciting features of the 2019 fair. Highlights of this year’s launch included the ‘Nostalgia Wall’ backdrop which collaged some highlights and memories from the past three years of ART X Lagos.
